Sneak preview

Ok, I can’t resist, now that the manuscript is turned in. Here’s a tiny section of one sweater in my book-after-next, How to Knit in the Woods. The hand? That’s my dad.

Fortunately, Rae, my friend and the book’s photographer, doesn’t know what my father’s Looks are. You know what I mean. Everyone’s parents have an Early Warning Look, as in “If [x] does not cease immediately, you will wish you had never been born.”

Peeking through the initial shots Rae sent, I clearly saw my dad’s Look in one of the later sweater shots. Heck, I called Tamas over to the laptop and he recognized it, too. Very funny. Then, in another series of photos, Dad’s posing with an ax. Let me tell you, for a while I thought we were going to have to take it away from him to prevent tragedy, namely my imminent death.

So, a word to the wise from your Aunt Shannon: never do a wool-filled photoshoot in 90-degree weather. Not that we had much choice — it’s October now and still almost 90 degrees every day. I hate it!

I’m in DE; we broke heat records yesterday, too, and the heat is oppressive in October, BUT, soon we’ll be griping and complaining about the ice and snow and cold!

The pattern on that sleeve looks most inviting!

Oh, it looks great! …and boy, I know the LOOK. I totally know it! I’ve seen it on way too many sweater models. I’m waiting patiently for the weather to cool off here because it is just way too hot to consider the “shoot” right now. Or at least, too hot to find anyone who would cooperate with me! (my dad probably wouldn’t even get into the sweater to begin with…)

Heh. I think i knew it too, but just played sweet an innocent in order to get all the shots done. 🙂 I could def tell he was not happy and did everything I could to wrap things up. Speaking of wrapping things up, I just sent all the final photos off to the publisher! Thought I’d drop by and leave you a note.
