Tofu hats!
(Pamela, if you’re reading this, close the browser window RIGHT NOW, or your Christmas surprise will be just ruined)
There. Now that I’ve made myself clear… I just ordered a pound of soy silk roving from the Southwest Trading Company, and the sock knitter’s dye kit from Sheep Hollow Farm & Fiber that’s based on The Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook. One good thing about the kit is that you get several colors all at once with which to play, rather than buying larger quantities of one dye or another that you might not end up using as much. It’s the 3-color, one-black inkjet cartridge approach to fiber dyeing!
The intended project: hats for my best friend and her husband for Christmas. They’re vegetarians, so I thought hats made out of soy fiber would be both amusing and wildly appropriate. Project codename: Tofu Hat.
Now, what do I get for their dogs? Rosie and Monty are huge Rhodesian Ridgebacks, it would take me longer to knit a sweater for them than for their mommy.
Dyeing trials and tribulations to come, no doubt. Anyone have Lanaset-related tips for me?
