Knitting out loud? Oh yes!

Hi! Did you miss me? Let the truth be told, I can’t say I missed my crazy work schedule. There’s something to be said about losing an entire half hour to watching a seagull fish for crabs (and devour them live, zombie-style), or having competitions with one’s boyfriend to see who can eat more lobster in a week. But I digress — cool news to report:

Loveland, Colo., September 10, 2007: Interweave Press LLC and Knitting Out Loud announced today that they have entered into a sales and distribution agreement for Knitting Out Loud audio books. Founded in March 2007, Knitting Out Loud is an audio-book company publishing top quality recordings of the best of knitting literature.

“Knitters love to read about their hobby, from entertaining stories by their favorite designers to sparkling reflections—sometimes serious, sometimes funny—on the pleasures of knitting. These books would make a great read, but they’re an even better read while knitting,” says Kathy Goldner, Publisher, Knitting Out Loud.

Interweave Press will begin selling immediately the company’s first audio books, the best-selling Stitch ‘n Bitch by Debbie Stoller and read by the author; America Knits, Melanie Falick’s interviews with pioneering knitting designers, weavers, spinners, and sheep farmers across the country; and Knitting Memories, essays by knitters including Clara Parkes, Teva Durham, and Lily Chin, edited by Lela Nargi. All three audio books are launching into the market October 2007.

Cool, eh? Something new and fun to listen to… we were audiobook-crazy on the long drive to Maine and back. First Anthony Bourdain’s Kitchen Confidential and Gordon Ramsay’s Humble Pie, both read by their (smoking hot chef) authors, then some other good stuff coming home.

I did actually get some knitting done on the trip. Not the knitting I should have been doing, but some design work I couldn’t resist. Good thing we didn’t fly — I had a whole bag devoted just to yarn! When we arrived on the island, our bedroom was painted the predominant color of the yarn I was knitting. Is that an omen or what?

So, back to work, and all work-related-stress aside, glad to be back. There’s some more books stacked on the review pile that arrived while I was gone, for example. How were your past two weeks?
