Double-ply Pekinese

This is Anezka’s friend Vita, whose mommy is out of the country at the moment. I decided to try spinning Vita fur after getting an amazingly large amount from her during our grooming session this afternoon. It’s actually her undercoat, which is fluffy and tan, and not the top of her Peke-fleece, which is red. Like a cashmere goat, almost. The top hairs are long guard fibers and the stuff below is amazingly soft. Even after plying it into a double-ply yarn on my wheel, I had enough to knit a 4 x 4′ square – she’s a fuzzy little thing!

Anezka, of course, was insanely jealous, and promptly tried to bite the swatch when I finished it.
