Noro sock yarn
Have you seen it yet? Hoo boy. My intrepid test knitter Andi (of Knit Brit) was up at my shop today, and we were ogling the Noro sock yarn next door. She says, with no prompting from me, mind you: “If you get it for me, I’ll knit you a pair of socks.”
There is no possible answer for that one other than: HERE IS MY CREDIT CARD YESPLEASETHANKYOU.
I also bought her some Koigu for a bonus (I wear size 11+ shoes, my dears, these are not going to be a small project, even for her), so it’s going to be a very socky Christmas in KnitBritLand. Then Pavia from Miknitures stopped up with a giant basket of chocolate.
Socks and chocolate? You can’t beat that.
Hint to Andi: I can has Monkey?
Oh, and then I’ll need a pair of these clear Converse to go with, spotted here.
I just got some last week, and finally got to cast on today. It’s like the two best things in the world, together at last.
You are one lucky lady!! I ordered some Kureyon Sock online and it arrived yesterday…ho boy. I think I might be way too excited.
Also, I have a size 11, too…and MAJOR cankles. Ha. I have to buy 3 skeins of Koigu to make pair.
Do you know how hard it is to look at this yarn and have to wait to cast it on? Darn book projects! bah humbug!
At least I got to play with the Fasset-y goodness for a few mins yesterday – ooooooooooooh!
I haven’t even seen the Noro sock yarn yet, but I have heard about how amazing it looks. I’ll have to get my hands on some.
yes, i’ve seen it! since i can’t get that excited about knitting socks, i like to think of it as more of a laceweight noro. the color repeats are super short, so i dunno what it would do on a triangular shawl. but something rectilinear… say clapotis like… would be super-delicious. now i must go look on ravelry and see if anyone’s made one of those yet. damn, i love ravelry.
Hi! since, I’m new here, what’s ravelry?
I searched feverishly through the canyons of Manhattan for this yarn yesterday, and there was not an inch of it to be had south of 23rd Street (the dividing line between fantasy and reality in my mind). I was able to score a skein at an old lady yarn store on the Upper East Side. the color is beautiful but the hand is a little coarse for socks. Let’s see how it washes.
Meggie, Ravelry is a website (ravelry.com) devoted to knitting, crochet, etc. It is very, very popular and has a super-long waiting list, so my advice to you if you love knitting is to get on the list now!
Thanks Shannon! I do love knitting, so I’ll check it out. 🙂
I knitted a sock with my noro sock yarn. It is the worst sock I have ever made. While the colors are beautiful, the thick and thin yarn is not to my liking. The thin parts look like I left holes in my knitting. The thick parts are way out of proportion to the rest of the yarn. I also do not like the texture of the yarn. I am not going to knit the second sock. Sorry.
