Knit Habit

I’m completely in love with the Serge Gainsbourg song “Laisse tomber les filles” as performed by France Gall. It’s better known as “Chick Habit” in its English translation by April March, because it was used in the Quentin Tarantino Grindhouse double feature last year.

So, here I am, singing along with myself, changing around the words like you do when you’re being a goof, and I started to turn it into “Knit Habit.” Hmmm. Let me get the words complete first…maybe I’ll record it for the podcast!

I LOVE Chick Habit!!! It would be absolutely hysterical to hear a “knit habit” version…

Y’know, I think April March is actually based here in Cleveland now (she’s married to one of the head guys at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) — maybe we could convince her to sing it! 🙂

April March did live in Cleveland Hts- married to Warren Zanes, who was Education Dir at the Rock Hall. I’m pretty sure they moved back to NYC, living in Jersey actually. Ohio Knitting Mills is (quietly) having a metamorphisis, based in Cleveland- though we are mostly operating out of Brooklyn NY now (we have a retail store there). Still, I would love to connect with NEO people who are involved and get what we’re about. Please, be in touch. thanks

That dress pattern in Knitty converted me too. I will be making it for an upcoming trip to my hometown to see my brother graduate from high school.

Also, I wanted to add that although I sounded flippant of your book Alter Nation in my blog post (in reference to Steven Wells horrible ‘review’) I am a big fan of yours. Thanks for backing me up on my review of his review. 🙂
