Fun with recycled silk

(Cross post from my main site)

My absolutely bizarre question of the day: does anyone know where I could find a source of used silk saris? Preferably the very old school, very long ones, and exceptions could be made for a great pattern / color if they’re not silk. I don’t suppose India has the equivalent of Goodwill? Hmmm. Perfect condition isn’t a requirement, either.

The crafty ideas I get in the morning before the first full cup of coffee is down… unusual, to say the least.

Oh, and on a related note, have any of you knitted with that recycled “Tibetan silk” yarn that’s made from textile factory scraps?
