Dateline: Los Angeles

I’ve been in Los Angeles since Monday taping a new craft show for the DIY Network called Uncommon Threads. The tapings went well, the people I’ve been working with (and other crafters I’ve met) have been fantastic, the show host Allison was a total doll…all in all, excellent.

We went yarn shopping at Unwind last night with the crochet geniuses of Crochet Me and had Indian food afterwards…fun! Unwind is a gorgeous little shop smack dab in the middle of Burbank, close to our hotel.

Thanks to Kim, Crochet Me editor and overall mastermind (look for her teen crochet book from Watson Guptill next year!), for organizing last night’s expedition. We are planning to consume our own body weights in sushi when I visit her in Vancouver next week. She also promised to promote the Team Knitty breast cancer run fundraising — how’s that for reaching across the crochet/knit divide? Yay, Kim!

Photos soon, when I have a more reliable internet connection!

Dagnabit! I’m so sorry I’m missing out on all the fun. At least I’ll get to see your show when it airs.

Unwind is a great shop. I’m glad it’s not closer to my house, or I’d have to up my yarn budget significantly.
