As announcements go, this is a big one…

Why so quiet recently, you ask?

(Oh, you mean apart from teaching at Felt School, editing the magazine, writing and designing the CSA Farm Fresh Knits booklet and getting ready for TNNA this weekend?)

Say hello to Knitgrrl Studio.

Well, say hello to what it looked like before I got my hands on it, anyway. I’ve left Stitch Cleveland and have started my very own teaching/retail space in Lakewood’s historic Birdtown district. It’s inside a former factory building that is home to many talented artists of all descriptions.

Sharing the studio is my best friend and painter extraordinaire Arabella Proffer, who finally has all the gallery wall space her little oil-paint-covered heart desires, and our ceramic genius friend Gina is right upstairs (wait til you see some of the collaborative stuff we’ve got planned).

There will be a lovely launch party coming up in the near future. For the record, putting up drywall and getting it just right is kind of, umm…well, let’s just say I learned some very new and exciting bad words from my father.

To keep in touch, become a fan on Facebook or join the studio announce list below, which is separate from the regular Knitgrrl announce list — the phone isn’t hooked up yet and the proverbial paint is still drying on the website, but all will be revealed soon. If it gives you an error after you click ‘join,’ don’t worry about it, it’ll be fixed soon.

Congrats, you fabulous (and incredibly industrious) Queen of Indie Craft! I am so excited to see the place in person, I just have a feeling it’s going to grow bigger and better and diversify beyond what you can imagine, now that you are free to stretch your wings all on your own! Knit long and prosper!

P.S. Umm…. *cough cough* Miz Trish, she may be the hardest working woman in craft business, but many of us are running a close second — I have permanent callouses and blisters on my fingers from my pliers . I have dreams of waking up to a wall off beads rolling towards me and ones of show tents rolling across the field in a freak summer storm. No lie.
And when I was a kid I walked 5 miles each day to school. In the snow. Uphill each way. 🙂 just kidding with ya. Long live Knitgrrl Studio!

Congratulations, how exciting! Is that the building over on Athens? (I think that’s the name of the street, where the library sometimes has book sales)

Best of luck in your new location. I hope we can see some art classes and pottery as well. In addition to the great ideas you usually come up with. I’m not a knitter but I love new craft ideas. Thanks for staying in Lakewood.
