Portland knitting trip

Last night I went to the real-world World of Julie in Portland and we had a blast! Knitting, eating, knitting, kittycats, pattern-gawking and more. Then this morning, we headed to Central Yarn in downtown Portland, which is a great store. Brooke and co. are very helpful and knowledgeable, and she’s growing a dye garden right now. I need to ask her more questions before I try doing the same next year in my aunt’s backyard. I bought a Yankee Knitter sock pattern Julie recommended and a gorgeous skein of Opal sock yarn. Double-points, here I come!

I also showed Julie the Secret Project, and she heartily approved. Can’t say her kitties did, though. They backed away as if it were poison. Ah, well. Peatie and Theo are the first cats I’ve ever met who are absolutely unintrigued by yarn.

Next trip to Portland, if not before: The Common Ground Country Fair, put on by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association. Sheep! A whole tent of fleece, and a ton of fun stuff to do! Many knitting-related exhibits, I’m sure.
