Claudy Jongstra

“Never Felt Before! the extraordinary textiles of Claudy Jongstra” opens tomorrow at NYC’s Moss Gallery, running through 19 October. From their site:

The first solo exhibition in the United States of Dutch designer Claudy Jongstra’s incredibly crafted natural felts, incorporating unique, complex constructions of silk-metallic organza, rag linen, alpaca, cotton and cashmere, as well as the exotic wools taken from her own flock of 200 indigenous, but nearly extinct, Drenthe Heath sheep.

Just when you think real wool felt couldn’t get more exciting, it does!

Speaking of — soon I’ll be turning in the manuscript for my spinning book and moving over into full production on the felting book I’m writing for Interweave Press with my friend Heather. I can’t wait! I love felt in all its permutations.
