Book review: Knitwear Fashion Design: The Secrets of Drawing Knitted Fabrics and Garments
I know a lot of hand knitting designers who aren’t super confident in their drawing skills despite needing to submit sketches for submissions and the like. WELL. Have I found the resource to solve that particular problem! Knitwear Fashion Design: The Secrets of Drawing Knitted Fabrics and Garments is a reasonably-priced book (i.e. NOT a $100+ fashion school textbook) that covers everything from how to draw different types of stitches (like cables) to how to handle representing different kinds of yarn. The information is well-organized and beautifully presented, and if you need some extra inspiration to boost your knitwear drawing skills you might want to give this one a look. There are also a large number of illustrations of classic knitwear pieces—everything from Schiaparelli to Pringle—demonstrating some of the principles from the drawing instructions.
