Note dark chocolate and wrapping paper. Interweave Press is brilliant.
And now for the meta shot:

Thanks, Dharia (and everyone else, too)! Start spinning some natural colored wool for the body and stock up on Noro Silk Garden for the top — you’ll be ready to go by the time the book is on shelves! 🙂

At last, someone who not only knits, but spins! I learned how to spin in the Fall of 1973 at Greentree Ranch in Loveland, CO (yes, home of Interweave Press). Louise Green and her husband not only ran the spinning/weaving business, but also raised their own sheep and championship Morgan horses (and oh was their stallion a beauty). Louise insisted that her students learn how to spin (original Turkish spindles imported from Turkey…still have mine)using 2nd-cuts. she said if we could spin second cuts we could spin anything. For years I used my handspun for knitting (hats, mittens, more hats, pillow covers, a beautiful sweater from an Icelandic fleece), but finding patterns that allowed for the irregularities of handspun was hard to do in the early 1980’s.
I just want you to know how excited I am to see someone putting out a book that incorporates knitting with spinning and I’m really looking forward to seeing it. The only other pattern source I’ve come across that was really useful was Connie Delaney’s book (can’t remember the name, but I have it, along with a stack of her newsletters).
Again, I want to thank you for bringing the world of handspinning and knitting together in a very public forum. Now, patience will just have to become my middle name.
    still spinning, still knitting

I’m glad to see the book is finally out. In the meantime I’ve moved closer to LA though. Should I send you my new mailing address or is there someone at Interweave that I should send it to?
    Thanks!
