Sweet Shawlettes review / blog tour

Today I’m hosting a stop on the blog tour for Jean Moss‘ new book Sweet Shawlettes.
First of all: KITTY!!!

Sorry, I got distracted there for a second. Me and leopard print, we have a thing. You can win a copy of the book for yourself by leaving a comment on this post, and trust me, there are some great patterns to be had. Check out the project gallery here.
Why knit shawlettes and cowls and related items? Well, if you hadn’t noticed, I’ve been on a bit of a cowl kick myself lately (Minu, Stacked). They’re fast and fun to knit, you can splurge on the yarn because it’s not a huge sweater’s worth, and they tend to be very wearable. Plus, as gifts they can’t be beat, because sizing is rarely an issue.
Jean has 25 lovely patterns in her book, and they have a broad range of styles, from country to vintage-inspired to folk and couture-type pieces. (Those are the four sections of the book). What’s inspirational for me is the different shapes and styles — no blah “oh look, another triangle with patterns worked into it). There’s turtlenecks, ruffles, lace, colorwork, buttons…never a dull moment. If you want to step your shawlette-knitting up a notch, this is the book to get!

Seeing as I have not a bazillion projects on my must-do list, count me in. I am sure I can find at least four or five to add!

This book is cute! And going by the pattern on the cover, it looks like there’s going to be even more cuteness inside the book. Lovely work Jean!

I’m on a bit of a cowl ‘n’ cape kick at the moment – and you’re right, they make perfect gifts! I’m rather taken with ‘Frost’, in the photo gallery.

Thank you for the review of Jean Moss’s Sweet Shawlettes book and for the opportunity to enter the drawing.
I join in your appreciation of Jean’s innovative designs such as Ceilidh – it’s like a combination of cozy turtleneck sweater and comfy plaid flannel shirt. I just want to cuddle up in it!
    Cheers!
